Women in Northern Sudan during activities provided by Women for Sustainable Development for Eid al Adha 2024

Dear Supporter,

In the heart of Sudan, countless lives are marred by the ongoing conflict, leaving many in dire need of basic necessities and the hope for a peaceful tomorrow. As an organization dedicated to empowering women, we are reaching out to kind-hearted individuals like you to support our mission in providing relief to those affected. Your donations can help sustain school feeding programs, ensuring that children have access to education and nourishment amidst turmoil. They can also aid in supplying essential items to those displaced by conflict, offering a semblance of stability in their time of displacement nd uncertainty.

The situation in Sudan has been escalating since April 2023, marked by intense conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The violence has led to significant political instability, a severe humanitarian emergency, and widespread human rights violations. As of June 2024, over 15,500 fatalities have been reported, and almost 9.5 million people have been forcibly displaced, with 7.3 million internally displaced and 1.9 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries. The UN has highlighted the 'blatant disregard' for fundamental human rights and international law by combatants, and the situation in El Fasher, North Darfur, is particularly dire, with the city under relentless bombardment and civilians suffering atrocities along ethnic lines. The humanitarian crisis is exacerbated by acute food insecurity, affecting around 18 million people, and the risk of famine looms large if the conflict continues to escalate.

Today we are on the ground, supporting those internally displaced in schools, gathering sites, and where support is needed the most. Join us in this compassionate endeavor to bring solace and support to the women and children and families of Sudan, for it is in giving that we receive the truest joys of humanity.
